Petro Sep
Lab characterization of an industrial fluid sample.

Step 01 of 05

Research & Development

Every Petro Sep system begins with a sample. We characterize your fluid in our Mississauga lab, identify the right membrane chemistry, and prove the concept on real samples before quoting a system. Most engagements start with a sealed box on our doorstep and end with a recommendation, written in plain language: this works, this is what to expect, this is what we would build.

What you get at this step

The deliverable.

At the end of research & development, here is what changes for your project.

Bench validation timeline
2 to 6 weeks
From sample receipt to recommendation, depending on fluid complexity.
Recommendation deliverable
A written report with recovery, flux, rejection, recommended membrane chemistry, and either a pilot proposal or a candid 'this is not the right fit' conclusion.
Cost
Fixed-fee bench validation. Quoted up front, capped, and credited toward a pilot or system if you proceed.

Capabilities and equipment

What we bring.
What we own.

We do not subcontract this step. The capabilities and equipment below are in-house, and they show up on your project.

01

On-site lab in Mississauga

Full ICP-MS, GC-MS, ion chromatography, and TOC analysis. Most fluid characterizations turn around in 5 to 10 business days.

02

Membrane chemistry library

Six core membrane families plus custom fabrication. We test multiple membrane chemistries against your fluid before recommending one.

03

Bench-scale separation testing

Single-module trials at 1 to 10 L/h on real samples. We measure recovery, flux, and rejection on your actual fluid, not a surrogate.

04

NDA before sample receipt

Mutual NDA signed before you ship. Composition, results, and recommendations are confidential by default.

Send us a sample, a sentence about your goal, and a target timeline. We will tell you whether membrane separation fits and what we would do at each of the five steps.
